HARD sc Publishing Company was established by Professor Jerzy Radecki and Professor Hanna Radecka with the purpose of launching a dedicated platform for high-quality environmental research. This vision led to the creation of the Polish Journal of Environmental Studies (PJOES), first published in 1996.

Founded by renowned chemistry researchers, PJOES was created to provide a scholarly home for research addressing environmental protection, environmental degradation, and the direct threats these pose to human health and life. Over nearly three decades, the journal has published impactful research from across the globe and has become an important independent voice in the field.

As the journal developed, it achieved international recognition and was included in leading global scientific databases. Today, Polish Journal of Environmental Studies is indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (SCIE), ensuring wide visibility and accessibility of published research within the global scientific community.

In 2025, in response to a growing number of interdisciplinary submissions, the journal was joined by a sister title: Polish Journal of Environmental Studies: Politics, Economics and Industry (PJOESPEAI).

This new journal reflects the increasing importance of the broader implications of environmental science, covering areas such as environmental policy, environmental economics, corporate sustainability (ESG), climate justice, and environmental ethics – issues that are shaping contemporary societies.

Together, PJOES and PJOESPEAI represent the natural progression of environmental science: from fundamental research to its applications in policy, economics, and societal transformation. Operating as independent journals in close collaboration with the research community, they provide authors with a supportive publishing environment characterized by editorial efficiency, flexibility, and high-quality standards.
